Biography:  

Born Iris Wilkinson, Hyde was a significant journalist throughout the 20s and 30s, most notably travelling to the China-Japan war front and challenging the limits of women’s writing. Poetry - and to a lesser extent, prose - was her first love, and her ten books are now slowly being recognised as works of great originality.
